Most electronic science, technical, engineering and medical (STEM) content containing mathematics seems to fall into one of four categories:

• New research material from publishers
  (mostly commercial, or professional societies)
• Digitization and conversion of legacy research material
  (publishers and sponsored projects)
• New educational materials
  (mostly from textbook publishers or small independent sites)
• Special projects of various sorts
